Devil Owen

MALAYSIANS will be the first to catch new signing, Michael Owen, in action for Manchester United when the Red Devils play the Malaysian national team at the National Football Stadium, Bukit Jalil tomorrow.

United had just signed their new No 7 on a free transfer. Owen may not be the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo but the prolific striker surely has a knack for scoring.

So, fans can expect the England striker to keep the goals coming tomorrow. This will not be his first time to Malaysia. Before his rise to stardom, Owen was the star of the England team in the 1997 Youth World Cup here in Kuala Lumpur.

Back then, I was still studying somewhere up north and been following games which were held in Alor Setar & Kangar. Even Ireland team used our sports complex as training base...players like
Pablo Aimar, Esteban Cambiasso, Juan Roman Riquelme, Jamie Carragher, Kieron Dyer, Danny Murphy, Michael Owen, Nicolas Anelka, William Gallas, Thierry Henry, Mikaƫl Silvestre, David Trezeguet, Damien Duff all graduated from that tournament and became superstar with various league...

To Malaysian team, no worries, 100,000 fans come to Bukit Jalil to watch MU, so just enjoy the game, we the fan does not expect much from you guys...coz honestly we dunno what to expect already...

Buy Nothing Day

BUY NOTHING DAY (16-7-2009) is a day where the idea simply is to buy absolutely nothing - not even a litre of petrol or even a parking ticket. The concept first begin in 1993 in Canada.

Now it has spread to over 65 nations including US, UK, Argentina, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan & Malaysia among others...

Here the time for cheap fuel and food is over. For people used to living comfortably and putting all the blame on the government for price hikes which forced them to tone down their lifestyle, bahavioral change is undeniably hard...

On our part, we've tried our best but still end up spending RM30... that's on assam laksa ingredients (the homemade assam laksa was awesome...did I mention that I fall in love again after the first dip ... hmmmm) plus two glasses of white coffee... hehehe...

ice white coffee...some can't get enough of it...wonder who??

assam laksa...yummy...

but no point of not spending on the specific day and back to normal spending for the remaining 364 days!!! The rationale behind the concept is to train people to be prudent...it will take time to change bad habits (unnecessary spending, impulse buying blablabla) but we have to start some how!!

and off course we'll try harder next year...

wimbledon

Roger Federer became tennis's greatest men's champion, as he beat Andy Roddick 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 16-14 in four hours and 16 minutes to claim his sixth Wimbledon crown. It was also a record 15th Grand Slam title for the Swiss master, overhauling the total of Pete Sampras.

It was a truly momentous climax to the 2009 Championships as the 27-year-old Swiss became the most successful man in the sport.

Roger - can you make it shorter next time please - finishing a match at almost 2:00 am makes going to work the same day a nightmare! Thank God you won - you totally deserve it, you are truely the champion of champions.

I watched with bapak and mama... mama retired halfway and me hehehe when the score stood at 14-14 final set, I dozed off...hmmm

Lost & Found

The longest 4 hours...

Iman's school bus arrived at 0730 daily and it is a normal routine for sean to follow him and play in the yard for a while...

After a while, mummy came out to check and surprisingly sean is nowhere to be seen...now the search starts in full scale...starting by calling me in the office, then umie... then everyone who knows sean....

Its now 0900 hrs, and time to act and start searching physically, few rounds of surveying round the blocks and backlanes, drains, knocking on neighbours door and finally...

Some how, mysteriously it end up in our neighbours... 3 doors away!!! It jump out of the house...someone tries to buat harta our prized possession and dares to say that..." ha akak ingat nak hantar balik petang-petang sikit...jinak betul kucing ni...tringat kucing akak kat kampung..blablabla".. the drama safely ends at 1200hrs...

sean, for now you're grounded...
